Lectures by Jeffrey Birnbaum, M.D., MPH on HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases

We are pleased to invite you to a series of lectures by a distinguished American expert, Associate Professor Jeffrey Birnbaum, M.D., MPH.

The lectures will focus on current public health challenges, with special emphasis on HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Attention will also be given to the integration of research, education, and clinical practice in an international context.

The event is intended for students, physicians, academic staff, and the broader professional community interested in public and global health.

The lecture taking place on May 6 at the Czech Academy of Sciences is being prepared in cooperation with Dr. Tomáš Cihlař, Ph.D., Vice President of Gilead Sciences, a company focused on the development and production of medications for patients with HIV.

Dr. Birnbaum serves as Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn (New York, USA), where he also completed his studies. He is also the Executive Director of the Health & Education Alternatives for Teens (HEAT) program, where since 1992 he has been providing healthcare to hundreds of young people aged 13–24 living with HIV.

He specializes in adolescent medicine and has long been dedicated to the care of young people living with HIV, as well as HIV prevention, including youth-focused PrEP programs. He is also among the pioneers of gender-affirming care for transgender youth in Brooklyn. His main areas of expertise include HIV treatment and prevention, LGBT+ youth health, and transgender medicine.

Dr. Birnbaum’s stay in the Czech Republic is carried out under the Fulbright Program, established in 1946. This prestigious program operates in more than 160 countries and has supported over 400,000 participants across various disciplines. His inclusion places him within a global network of experts actively contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the sharing of experience worldwide.

We look forward to your participation.
