The Mediator of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, helps both students and staff who turn to her with their problems. She contributes to ensuring that the faculty is a safe, respectful, fair, and pleasant place. She also oversees adherence to ethics and proper conduct.

Simona Arientová graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, where she currently teaches. She is also a member of the extended Dean’s Board and the Faculty Ethics Committee. She works as a physician at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the Central Military Hospital, where she also serves as Deputy Head for Education and Research.

What can the Mediator help you with:

The Mediator investigates, within the defined scope, reports concerning bullying, discrimination, inappropriate behaviour, unequal treatment, sexual harassment, conflicts of interest, undue delays, and cases where the relevant authority fails to act, as well as violations of legal regulations, including the internal regulations of the university or its units, and other similar conduct directed against the affected person.

She provides assistance to both students and lecturers who turn to her, or refers them to other relevant faculty or university bodies and institutions.

She identifies problems and barriers that negatively affect the working, study, and academic environment at the faculty.

She serves as a contact person who communicates with the University Ombudsperson.
