Mediator at the 1st Faculty of Medicine helps to create a safe, respectful, fair and pleasant learning environment. She ensures that the ethics of the faculty are upheld and that a fair education environment is developed in relation with the students.

MUDr. Simona Arientová, Ph.D., MBA

I am a doctor at the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the 1 LF UK and the ÚVN and I also teach at the 1 LF UK. Thanks to this I meet and know some of you personally.

Most importantly, I also studied at the 1 LF UK 😊.

I am also a member of the Dean's extended board, a member of the Faculty Ethics Council.

And now I will try to be your mediator. Or, if you prefer, ombudsman😊.

What a mediator can help you with:

She investigates, within a defined area, complaints relating to bullying, discrimination, misconduct, unequal treatment, sexual harassment, conflict of interest, unreasonable delays and instances of failure of a competent authority to act, violations of the law, including internal regulations of the University or its constituent units, and other similar conduct directed against the person concerned.

She provides assistance to students and teachers, or refer them to other relevant faculty and university institutions.

Identifies problems and obstacles negatively affecting the working, study and academic environment at the Faculty.

Is the contact person who communicates with the University ombudsman.

This is the official job description in the official language, but Dr. Arientová herself put it more succinctly:

"Do not be afraid to contact me, do not be afraid to share your experiences (negative and positive) related to your studies at the Faculty. This is the only way to make a difference."
