Thanks to the 1st Faculty of Medicine’s important participation in the BIOCEV Centre of Excellence, scientists from our ranks can use several highly advanced service centres of this institution.
Scientific workers have at their disposal not only advanced facilities for scientific work in laboratories, but also top-quality centres and specialised institutes.
The 1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University carries out the highest number of habilitation and appointment procedures of all Czech medical faculties.
As part of international collaboration on scientific projects or teaching, our faculty hosts important professors, leading scholars from prestigious institutions all around the world.
Research is an essential endeavor at the First Faculty of Medicine. Our scientists and researchers conduct basic, translational, epidemiologic and clinical research across a broad spectrum of biomedical topics. In a tight cooperation with the General University Hospital and other partners, we bring research from “bench to bedside”.
Doctoral studies are individual, provided under the direction of the Supervising Tutor and as a rule a Consulting Tutor as well, and are constituted by courses of lectures, seminars, self-study, and in particular solution of the assigned research project (the dissertation thesis).
Research at the 1st Faculty of Medicine is funded from national and international sources including European Union Structural and Investment Funds, national and international grant agencies, and funds from private and corporate sources (e.g. foundations).
