Election for the AS 1. LF UK 2025

ELECTIONS TO THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF THE FIRST FACULTY OF MEDICINE, CHARLES UNIVERSITY 2025

In accordance with the Electoral Code of the Academic Senate of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, the Academic Senate of the First Faculty of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as “AS 1. LF UK”) hereby announces, through its Election Committee, the elections to the Academic Senate of the First Faculty of Medicine for the term of office 2025–2028. The election dates are set for 19 and 20 November 2025. The elections will be held exclusively electronically.
Voters must have valid access to the CAS system. For information on CAS access, your registration in the voters list and on how to vote, please visit: volime.lf1.cuni.cz 
(information will be updated continuously).

For the purpose of organizing the elections, the AS 1. LF UK has appointed the Election Committee composed of:

Prof. MUDr. Jan Betka, DrSc. – Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and Motol University Hospital
Matěj Hrnjica – 6th-year student of General Medicine
Ema Krajčušková – 6th-year student of General Medicine
Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Václav Šmíd, Ph.D. – 4th Department of Internal Medicine – Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, First Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital
MUDr. Martin Vejražka, Ph.D. (Chair of the Committee) – Institute of Biochemistry and Experimental Oncology, First Faculty of Medicine

Method of Election

The elections will be conducted electronically. Authorized voters will be able to cast their votes only online at: https://volby.is.cuni.cz. Login to the election application will be carried out using credentials from the Central Authentication Service (CAS) of Charles University.

Elected Members of the Senate

A total of 30 members of the Senate will be elected:

  • Academic staff elect 15 members of the Senate,
  • Students of bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes taught in a foreign language elect 3 members,
  • Students of doctoral degree programmes elect 2 members,
  • Students of non-medical bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes taught in Czech elect 1 member,
  • Students of General Medicine taught in Czech elect 8 members, and
  • Students of Dentistry taught in Czech elect 1 member.

Candidate registration

Written applications for candidate registration (supported by a petition signed by at least 30 members of the academic community) may be submitted to the Registry of the Dean’s Office of the First Faculty of Medicine no later than 27 October 2025 at 12:00 noon.
The envelope containing the written proposal must be marked:
ELECTIONS TO THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF THE FIRST FACULTY OF MEDICINE 2025 – to the attention of the Chair of the Election Committee.

The Election Committee will publish the list of candidates in alphabetical order on the Faculty’s official noticeboard no later than 31 October 2025.

Registration of candidates and compilation of the candidate list

1) Any academic staff member or student who submits a written application for registration, supported by a petition signed by at least 30 members of the academic community, shall be registered as a candidate.

2) The application for registration must include the name, faculty department or study programme and year of study, and the candidate’s handwritten signature.
The application must be submitted either by post to the address of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty or delivered in person to the Registry of the Dean’s Office, Kateřinská 32, Prague 2.
The deadline for submission of the registration application expires no later than twenty-one days before the first day of the elections. This deadline will be published on the public section of the Faculty’s website.

3) The petition must include the name, faculty department or study programme and year of study, and the handwritten signature of all supporting members of the academic community.

Candidates may also, if they wish, attach campaign materials (e.g. a CV, a statement of intent regarding their work in the Senate, etc.) of up to one A4 page in length, which will be posted on the Faculty’s official noticeboard. An electronic version of this material may be sent for publication on the Faculty’s website to: jana.kolarova@lf1.cuni.cz.
