Your Step-by-Step Guide to a Successful Admission


We're excited to open applications for our English-language study programmes in General Medicine and Dentistry for the academic year 2026/2027.

The admission process is the same for both programmes.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN STUDYING AT THE FIRST FACULTY OF MEDICINE, you´ll need to:

  1. Complete the application form for your chosen study programme
    You are welcome to apply for both General Medicine and Dentistry, but please note that a separate application must be submitted for each programme.
    If you are also applying to other faculties of Charles University, those applications must be submitted separately as well. The link to the application form will be published here as soon as the application system opens on December 1, 2025.

  2. Submit your application and pay the application fee
    To complete your application, you must pay the application fee of  285 EUR. Please note that you will not be allowed to sit the entrance examination unless the fee has been paid. Detailed information on how to make the payment will be available here as soon as the application period starts.

  3. Once your application is submitted and the fee is paid, it's time to start preparing! Check the preparatory materials and sample questions to help you get ready.


🌍 If you apply through one of our official international representatives, you may have the chance to take the entrance exam in a location abroad, closer to where you live and they will inform you directly about the date and location of your examination.

Please note: After successfully passing the entrance exam, you’ll need to submit proof of completed secondary education before you can enroll in the programme.

Here's how:

Applicants may choose to apply either directly to the university or through one of our official international representatives.

If you decide to apply via a representative, please contact them for detailed guidance.

Our representatives can assist you throughout the entire process — including your application, preparation for the entrance examination, visa procedures, and more.

Please note that each applicant may apply only once per academic year. You are welcome to begin your application even before completing your secondary education.

The entrance examination is the primary admission requirement. For the 2026/2027 academic year, no English language proficiency certificates or personal statement are required

 


ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

What to expect? The entrance examination consists of two rounds. 


📝ROUND 1: Written Examination (MCQ) Multiple-choice test in Biology, Chemistry, and General Science (=interpreting data, reading graphs, writing down problems using mathematical equations)


  • Format paper based
  • Time limit 90 minutes
  • Multiple-choice questions in each subject area
  • One point awarded for each correct answer
  • No negative marking
  • Total 75 points
  • Each subject is worth 25 points

Tests are based on the Single Best Answer (SBA) format where each question has several possible options, but only one clearly best and correct answer. This format encourages critical thinking, is widely used in international medical education and ensures fair and objective assessment of your knowledge.

❗Only applicants who pass this first round will be invited to continue to the second round of the entrance examination.

Please note: Some applicants may be eligible for waiving in Round 1

🎓Graduates of a master’s study programme in General Medicine or Dentistry from a university in the Czech Republic or an equivalent study programme abroad

🎓Graduates of an accredited bachelor’s or master’s study programme abroad in countries of the European Union or the OECD in specified fields of education (ex. Biology, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Hygiene, Nursing, Zoology etc. - an officially certified copy of the diploma and a diploma supplement are required)

🎓Students with at least six completed semesters of study in a General Medicine or Dentistry programme At a university in a European Union or OECD country. An officially certified transcript of completed courses stamped by the university is required to submit.The faculty carefully assesses each request individually.


All applicants, including those who are eligible for a Round 1 waiver, must still submit the application for admission, pay the admission fee, and pass Round 2 of the admission exam to receive an offer to study.



🎤ROUND 2: Oral Examination (MMI) Multiple Mini Interviews

 

  • Conducted online
  • 5 consecutive mini interviews
  • Each lasting 10 minutes
  • Each station individually asessed
  • Maximum 20 points per station
  • 100 points in total

The MMIs are designed to evaluate a range of skills and qualities essential for future medical professionals, including: 

  • Critical thinking and information interpretation
  • Role-playing in scenarios relevant to first-year medical students
  • Basic calculations within a clinical or problem-solving context
  • Creative thinking and adaptability
  • Motivation to study medicine
  • Previous achievements, relevant knowledge, and practical experience. Each interview station is scored independently by trained assessors.

 

Please note: Only the points from the second round (MMIs) determine the final admission decision. Points from the written and oral parts are not combined.
