SPORTS AT THE FACULTY

82681‘Regular sport activity helps to relax and deal with the stress associated with studying and exams, and later with the roster of shifts and overtimes. Future physicians should be able to recommend or even prescribe physical activity and movement to their patients.’

At the moment, we see in doctor’s offices and ambulatory clinics many people who suffer from problems they could treat themselves if they adopted a healthier lifestyle and did not expect doctors to solve all of their discomforts. It will be the task of current students to diagnose such ‘patients’, offer suitable and sensible advice, and teach them how to assume responsibility for their own health. And such advice is much more credible coming from a doctor who is healthy and physically fit.

With respect to the range of activities and interest of students, we are a clear leader among the faculties of the Charles University.

Each year, about 1,500 students of the Czech and 300 students of the English programmes take part in training sessions, about 400 participate in accredited courses, and another 300 are involved in our voluntary events. We see many of them repeatedly and it is clear that sport and the team spirit and new friendships formed while training are part of their life throughout their studies.

Study diligently but do not forget to do some sports. Make sure that one day, you’re a fit practitioner!
